Yesterday my toddler nursling and I accompanied my daughter on her 
preschool trip to a local farm. While there, we saw a sheep and her 2 
one-week old lambs. The farmer picked up one lamb and brought it up to 
the fence so the children could touch its soft wool. The mother sheep 
was very visibly distressed and stood very close to her baby the entire 
time. As soon as the farmer released the lamb, the lamb ran back to its 
mother and latched on for a quick nip of "mommy milk" -- as my children 
call it. I found the reunion scene quite touching and not much unlike 
human nurslings who run back to mom and check in with a quick nursing 
session to reconnect after a separation.
