You are welcome, and thanks for all that you do, too. I was just trying to convey that not all of us are heroes slogging thru mirey bogs of resistance from nurses, docs, and outdated protocols. There are heroic moments of course, but generally I stay in my hospital job because it's really FUN.

Hi Marsha,
You are exactly why I respect and admire hosp based LC's. I can't handle
the politics that go on in hospitals and Drs offices and the constant fight
to make sure moms and babies are cared for properly. It just stresses me
out too much! So those of us who can handle those types of situations I
support 150% and more. :) I LOVE working with parents (and extended
family) in their home, in their setting where they can be as relaxed as
possible to learn what they need to learn. That is where I feel my best
work is done. :) Plus, I get to spend more time with the babies! :)
Thanks for your contribution to our moms and babies!
Warmly,
Jaye
Hi Jaye et al,
I have worked as a hospital based LC for 4.5 years, and I LOVE it! This job
came after 10 years at an out-of-hospital birthing center. I just relish
the chance to be right in the mainstream, helping change practice, nudging
co-workers to change their perspective through modeling it to them, and
influencing moms and dads to see their newborns as fully intelligent and
sensitive human beings. It's a GREAT job!
