What is it about the delivery of food from a breast that he considers
different than delivery of the food from a bottle or sippy cup? Dental
caries are caused by continuos contact of food with the tooth enamel, such
as when a child sips juice all day, or falls asleep with a bottle in his
mouth, and thus does not swallow the milk - so, his advice to wean just
doesn't make sense, especially if the child is weaned to a bottle and put to
bed with the bottle - at least the breast stops delivering milk when the
child stops sucking - a bottle continues to drip into a sleeping child's
mouth!
