hi,
i used to work as a visiting nurse in a maternal and childhealth program in
queens, a boro of nyc. i had lots of african american women who breastfed. i
started to photograph the breastfeeding moms i worked with. you can view my
photos on my website. _www.nursingbabies.com_ (http://www.nursingbabies.com) .
the areas i worked were predominantly black areas, many moms breastfed. maybe
because the area was so culturally diverse, many moms were not born in the
us, and had better bf role models. they grew up seeing lots of women bf, so it
was something that was more normal for them.

<<<I am currently in the process of writing my thesis. I am focusing in on
why
most African American women don't want to breastfeed and if it has an
impact on mother-infant attachment or bonding. I wanted to know if anyone
came across any information or studies that relates to my topic.
