Seema, in my childbirth classes, I strongly encourage bed-sharing and tell
of my own experiences with putting my breastfed babies in bed with me. I
talk about how to co-sleep safely, how to breastfeed lying down, the
advantages of co-sleeping for the entire family (gotta get those dads on
the bandwagon!), how sleeping separately affects supply (baby isn't roused
to nurse as often), etc. I also mention some other ways to keep the baby
close to Mom throughout the night if bed-sharing isn't possible, feasible
or desired by the individual family (although I always say that the BABY
would say s/he prefers to sleep with Mom if s/he could talk!).
Hope that helps.
