Being given a piece of medical equipment ( a nipple shield) without adequate
instruction and follow up is something that I'm sure the legal department of
the hospital would like to hear about :-(
When I was a hospital LC (1986-1991) I kept them locked in my locker or
else the staff handed them out like candy! Shields have legitimate reasons
for use. They need careful explanation and follow up. I wouldn't give out
insulin and a needle or a urinary cath, etc without being sure patient knew
how to use! It's raining here - 3rd day or so in a row - that must be why
I'm so cranky :-) Pat in SNJ
