As some of you know, I am working on a project (turning into a book) on
nursing to age 3 and beyond. It seems to be a common and unsurprising trend
that nursing becomes more private as a child gets older. Some mothers have
even been accused, when they are open, of abusing or neglecting their
children by continuing to nurse (or pushing it pretty close).
I would like to confront this issue in a section of my book, but was
wondering if any of you knew of actual cases where a mother was charged or
accused of such because of nursing.
I've heard of one in Illinois, but I do not know the details. I was just
wondering if there were more out there or if this is a fear used to scare
mothers that is not often backed up. I would especially be interested in any
cases where the charges were thrown out, but all would be of interest.
Thanks so much for any info you can provide!
