Dr. Margaret Spinelli's research showed that the biggest risk factor for 
postpartum depression is depression during or before pregnancy.  This is 
certainly what I see, moms with histories of depression are most likely 
to get depressed, and moms with depression do not seem to get better 
when the breastfeeding improves, they really need treatment for their 
depression.
