You're right, Susan, and I agree with you - but you have 
misrepresented what I said. I said healthcare systems ' have really 
minimal impact, by themselves,  on health outomes, which are largely 
predicted, and predictable, by social and economic circumstances.'

The social and economic circumstances I have in mind include the 
access  (geographical and economic ) to good health care *and* things 
like basic nutrition plus supportive community and family 
networks....all of which, I think you would find, are excellent in 
places where health is good compared to a low GDP.

I am really not saying that excellence in healthcare systems is a 
waste of money!!
