Dear Friends:
I had to go to the large (3-story) shopping mall this morning. I noticed
babies and toddlers (can't help that :-).............the babies were all
little packages carried or push in car seats and carriages. The toddlers were
all restrained in strollers. Some babies were crying; some were being fed by a
mother who sat facing them, holding the bottle while the baby was in the car
seat. Other babies were plugged silent, with pacifiers. I didn't see one baby
carried in arms or in a cloth carrier.
The older I get, the more angry I become seeing babies plugged up!
Today I noticed something else; all the toddlers were restrained,
strapped into their strollers. There wasn't one single running free toddler. This
scene made me remember the days with my toddler (now a taller than me 15
years old), and how I loved to take her to malls. They were perfect playgrounds:
no mud and no cars; she could run to her heart's content and explore (with me
watching of course) and we both had such a good time.
sigh...........
warmly,
