I'm taking a class on brain theory, specifically on language and the brain.
We were watching a video tonight that was talking about babies learning
language and also on young children who had lost their language due to left
hemispherectomy for seizures.
At one point they showed a toddler who was bilingual and they were showing
her pictures and asking her to "point to the ..." in English and Spanish.
One of the pictures was a carton of milk and she was asked to point to "la
leche." She did, and then reached behind her and patted her mother's
breast. The whole class laughed in a very positive way.
I think the video was part of a PBS series on children's development.
