Dear Friends:
Last night was the first class of our local nursing mothers' training
course. Participants were telling their stories. One woman told of reading
every book and trying to do everything that she had read; this was difficult
because the books all say different things.
I asked the class how many were married; everyone raised their hands.
Next, they were asked how many of them had brought a sex manual with them on
their honeymoons. They all thought a moment, and then started laughing.
Laughter makes the best teachable moments.
We talked about how one must focus on one's feelings and one's partner
in bed and that hormonally this is exactly what mothers need to do with their
babies. There is no book written for any specific mother and baby; they all
have to write their own.
