Catherine, there are IBCLCs in the UK but very few are in private
practice. Most work as midwives within the health service or as
volunteers within one of the four volunteer groups.

In most circumstances, the quickest and easiest way to get help with
a bf issue in the UK outside the routine care offered by the health
service is to

a) ask if the hospital has an infant feeding specialist - some do,
though they vary hugely in quality and availability
b) call one of the volunteer helplines - the numbers should be made
available to her in the SCBU

There are one or two IBCLCs working privately in London, though not
sure if any cover Hendon - you can see some info on their website:
http://www.lcgb.org

Email me privately if you want to know more.
