Dear Friends:
I saw a mother with a newborn and a two-year old, my first tandem
consultation. She had pain nursing the two-year old from the beginning and lots of
problems. Her nipples hurt nursing during this pregnancy, but she perservered
because she didn't want to deprive the toddler of this security during a time
of family stresses. She also has chronic yeast; her husband is the vector.
Amazing what women will endure.
What has worked, today anyway was the asymmetrical latch! She also got
relief from hearing that the mom is responsible for the positioning and the
baby is responsible for the latch. This helped with the toddler as well as the
newborn.
