My 13 yo son has some kind of fungus in his mouth (not sure what, might be
thrush) for quite some time, without abx or other patients in the family. Been
treated with nystatin without real result. Have treated hin with Gentian
Violet  nou myself and that seems to work. He didn't mind the purple tongue very
much,  he thought it looked rather ''cool''.
