Christine,

I am addressing only the part you posted about fussy babies in the hospital.
I hear the same thing about babies who are home post discharge and it often
is because they're not being breastfed enough (explains why formula makes them
perfect angels) and/or not held by mom.  You're right on about skin-to-skin
contact lacking and I wonder how many of these poor, little souls are banished
to the nursery overnight, so of course their fussy, they're missing mommy and
the comfort, nutrition, and behavior organization of breastfeeding.
