Lynn said "No, I do know what you are saying. It IS crucial to acknowledge
the myriad factors influencing breastfeeding. I am sorry, I didn't convey
very well what I was trying to say :). The *you* in my statement was not
meant to single YOU out-everyone on lactnet knows that you're the *best*.
*You* was meant to apply to pedi HCPs in general-are there any out there
that have changed their culture in the way of BMC? *Perh
aps* that could make a difference?"
Your right, it is hard to convey what you mean electronically sometimes! I
don't think there's any "perhaps" about it - if we could make breastfeeding
the norm it would make a difference!
What if even just every single HCP a woman came in contact with felt that
breastfeeding was important? You know, labor nurse, dietician,
obstetrician, pediatrician, the dermatologist you are referred while still
breastfeeding, the nurse practioner you see for a well-woman visit years
before you have a baby? What if the medical climate was such that
breastfeeding was supported and encouraged all along the way? Sigh, that
I'd like to see.
