I am an aspiring LC and LLLL, so I defer to everyone else's wisdom on
this subject, but I try to have moms get their babies' chins smushed
into the breast and the nose just lightly resting on the breast. If
they are worried about their babies' nose, I try to have them pull
baby's shoulders in closer and slightly to midline of mom's body,
causing the baby's head to slightly rock back freeing up the nose.
This has the benefit of making mom less worried and baby able to get an
improved latch. The baby is probably fine, but I don't want mom to be
anxious if possible. I learned this technique from Rebecca Glover's
video, and Jack Newman's new videos.
