i work in a peds office as an lc and triage nurse - i am employed by the doc
who owns practice and see the newborns the first few visits as part of the
"team" along with the practitioners - and it is submitted to the insurance
under the doctor's coding (extended visit) with their signature and mine.
my boss absorbs the cost by "under re-imbursement" from some insurances,
since by having lactation support in our practice, it is a huge marketing
tool and we have happier moms and babies b/c of it. i have been with this
group for the last 10 yrs. the peds office is one of the most important
places for lactation consultants-
sincerely, holly mcclain,rn,ibclc
