I'm not sure if this is do-able.... but someone here was getting a
Master's or PhD in nursing and looking for a thesis topic. I was
just wondering outloud (ok, it was on email to parent-l, but close
enough) how long I'd been nursing. I said it was 10 years - the year
or so after Sage was mostly done and I was only pregnant. Therefore
there was a time when I was only nursing my second child every other
day or so- Was I really "lactating" then in terms of my hormonal
status? Does it "count" toward my reduction in rheumatoid arthritis
risk or breast cancer risk? What is the hormonal profile of a
lactating woman at that point and how does it compare to a stable
lactating woman providing all of her child's needs or a woman who is
"just" nursing a couple times daily?

I'm curious too because I was turned down for an herbal and SSRI study
when Sage was about 3 because I was nursing. I understood that they
couldn't include me within the parameters of the study- they were
looking at ameliorating the lack of libido caused by SSRI's with Ginko
Biloba- but I wondered if my hormones really justified that.

thoughts??

Mom to Ursula (9.7), Sage (7), Benno (3) People seem not to see
that their opinion of the world is also a confession of their
character.
