I recently received phone calls from a couple of moms who continue to produce
milk after weaning. One mom was about one month post-weaning, but produced
enough milk to become uncomfortable. Actually, after discussing this situation
with her own mother, she found out her mother leaked breastmilk for 7 years
after weaning.
The most recent phone call was from a mom who nursed for 2 years and had
weaned about 5-6 months ago. She still was producing enough milk that it was
uncomfortable and bothersome.
Are these unusual situations or is this something others have seen in their
practices?
Any ideas for these moms other than the usual suggestions for ice or cabbage
leaves?
TIA,
Judy Hatfield IBCLC
