It took me a long time and a great deal of study to arrive at the
convictions I have today. I respect that someone who has not had the
experiences and education I have had will not instantly grasp what it took
me so long to learn. I don’t want to be what we in the US sometimes refer
to as, “Preaching to the choir,” which means only getting through only to
those who are already convinced. I struggle to meet people where they are.
Does this clarify my meaning?

Well, it seems I'm not educated enough to understand.
You know, our Dutch government is heading forwards into taking very unwanted
actions and everytime the opposition or citizens complain or reject all they
can say: apparently people still do not understand, we'll have to educate
them more.
I do not think that having another opinion means one is not educated enough
to understand why the other opinion is the better.
It took me much time and learning to understand that cooing people and try
to not disturb their nice feelings is not the way to make things better or to
stop unethical proceedings.
But ofcourse it is possible that I misused my time and learned the wrong
stuff.
Warmly,
Gonneke
