Lindsey,
This is an excellent topic for you to research. It is also somewhat
controversial, especially in the "non breastfeeding friendly" element. I
even heard one nurse turn the idea down because it was "so unnatural"! So
bottle feeding is somehow "natural"?
In your references, I know the guideline is not to use anything published
more than 5 (or even less) years ago. However, there was an article
published 50 or so years ago about cup feeding where it was suggested it
should be used with all babies in nurseries because it was faster and more
effective! It would be interesting to cite to show that this isn't some
"new fangled" idea. I hope someone with a more efficient reference system
than I have will be able to give you that reference. Good luck in your
studies.
