Ah, but Linda, there is nothing political in my
statements. They are ethical considerations. Nowhere
did I state that HCPs should deny care to families who
decide to feed formula. I stated that if they believe
that formula can cause harm that ethically they cannot
give it out as formula samples, no matter how
altruistic their feelings. There is a difference.
One is realistic. They have made a decision and you
have to go with that. The second is ethics. HCPs
shouldn't be seen as endorsing something which can
cause harm.
Re your analogy, do HCPs give out samples of
chemotherapy???? That's where your analogy falls
short. It's fine for the argument of whether a HCP
should work with a family who is giving formula, but
it doesn't apply to the HCP who is giving out formula
as marketing.
