Hello Lactnetters!
I have permission to post this question. A mother of a 7.5 month old would
like to use mineral bath salts and/or oils.
Does this need to be washed off the areola/nipple prior to breastfeeding?
Are the minerals absorbed in any amount that would affect breastmilk? The
patient asks because she was told by her OB not to use mineral oil during
her pregnancy as the minerals would be absrobed and adversely affect the
fetus.
Has anyone ever been asked these questions? Does anyone care to comment?
Thanks.
