I think I would ask, "Do you have an IBCLC on your staff?" (My pediatrician
does -- it's me!!). Then, if they say no, simply ask, "To whom do you refer
if I have breastfeeding problems?" If they say, "Oh, there are lactation
consultants at the hospital" then I would wonder.....
Another specific question might be something along the lines of "If my baby
doesn't gain enough weight, what would you recommend that I do?" (Hopefully
the answer would be to see an IBCLC, but....)
