Thank you for posting this, Nikki. As sad as it made me (and many others I'm
sure) feel, your story helped me put things in perspective. I often get
helping calls from Indian women living here in the US, and have never really
stopped to consider just what a different place they may be in from me.
(Oddly, most of them call having difficulties with breastfeeding girl
babies. Hmmm, makes me wonder.) When you wrote: <Breastfeeding is not her
concern now; she said, "Maybe next time." Maybe if she delivers a son?>, I
couldn't help think of that photo of a Pakistani mother holding her boy/girl
twins -- the fat, healthy breastfed boy and the malnourished, sickly
bottle-fed girl. :(
