At the 17th-century Colony of Avalon site in Ferryland, Newfoundland one of the crew just found a silver cufflink with an italicized "E" moulded in relief on the inside of one of the domed links. The context is probably from the 18th century. Does anyone know any good sources for identifying this apparent touch mark?

I can send an image of this mark to anyone who would like to see it.

Any help would be appreciated.
