It all paid off.  I just got off the phone with the executive producer,
who apologized and said that he takes my reputation and commitment to
public health seriously.  They are going to make a formal correction, on
air, by the anchor (so I am assuming Diane Sawyer) tomorrow morning.  They
are going to let me know the approximate time later today.

I told them I am hopeful that tomorrow's correction will be satisfactory.
I was physically shaking by the end (my officemate can testify to this!)
but stayed very calm, polite, but firm through the whole conversation.
