Thanks for posting, Sheila.  These kinds of photos remind us that not
all the world is a kind place for children.  The accompanying article
also is heart-rending.  It takes a while but finally gets around to
mentioning the importance of BF and that lack of BF is a significant
factor in malnutrition.  Unfortunately it doesn't quite get it right:

"Despite recommendations from UNICEF and the WHO that mothers breastfeed
their infants until the age of six months, an AHO study has shown that
in Benin and many other countries, "six out of 10 children do not
benefit from this practice." 

Despite being proud of the work I do in public health, I also know that
safe, dependable food supply (including BF for babies and toddlers!),
clean water and sewage management have made more of a difference in
health outcomes (mortality and morbidity) world-wide.  The only other
health approach that comes close is vaccination.
