I have recently seen a Nepalese woman who had large painful swellings in
both armpits. They were at their worse on the 6th day PN when her breasts
were very full and then gradually resolved so were gone by day 10. Each
swelling had what looked like a mole in the centre, probably an accessory
nipple. Back in 1973 when I was a student midwife, I saw a woman with
assessory nipples and breast tissue on her chest wall below her breasts,
that leaked milk. She was in her 40's and had not realized she was pregnant
until she went into labour. She thought the assessory nipples were moles
until then. She breastfed and I remember her joking that she could have fed
quads as she had the equipment for it!
