Not French songs but a strong French influence.  Why not try the
Rohem Graham CD on Erato.  Graham's voice is very even and smooth.  A
lovely soft grained quality to her tone also.  A 'lit from within' inner
expressiveness.  Many of the songs are glorious.  It's difficult to get
the booklet out of the case and put it back without doing serious damage
though.
