As someone who went through 3 healthy, unmedicated pregnancies on a vegan
diet, I can sympathize with these parents.with my first I had a conventional
ob, who was completely freaked out by my eating choices, calling me
'hippy'..my other 2 were with midwives, who were completely ok with my
eating choices. I had perfectly healthy pregnancies, that produced healthy,
happy babies - 7-11, 8-4 and 7-9. None were deficient in anything, despite
what my first ob had predicted.

All of my children have been raised vegan, and all of them are rarely sick,
with an occasional cold a couple of times a year. They have just recently
added green chicken and fish to their diets, by their choice, but we
continue to eat no dairy, and I suspect will remain dairy free. (I gave up
dairy 10 years ago, and subsequently conceived my 'miracle' babies, after 10
years of being told I would 'never conceive')

It is too bad that doctors don't get more education in nutrition, I suspect
they would be more supportive of a vegan lifestyle if they only knew the
research.

On a different note, the article re: breastmilk as an anti-diahrreal.in one
paragraph it states that '.these sugars are not found in baby formula or
cow's milk off the shelf..' Give them a year and every formula company out
there will be advertising their new improved, anti-diahrreal formula.

Peace,

Joi
