Please contribute to this thread, since I've always had questions about
this process. If intact foreign proteins are circulating in the mother's
bloodstream, en route to the milk-making tissue, why isn't her immune
system setting up the alarms in a major allergic reaction? In many
cases, when the baby seems sensitive to the mother's diet, the mother
isn't having any overt problems. If there's a problem with gut
integrity, presumably those proteins would be circulating through her
system all the time, not just while she's lactating.
