I had a friend who used an SNS for two different babies for close to a year. I have a client who used it for six months. I would like to know how much this baby can remove on his own by doing some test weights without the SNS. His poor sucking could be from weight loss or could be the problem. I would also want to know what using the SNS does as far as milk intake. I would have mom do some "insurance pumping" on a rental pump -- depending on what intake baby can manage from breast. If baby continues to be unable to remove much milk but mom has a good supply, I would want a Speach Language Pathologist or Physical Therapist to evaluate baby's facial and mouth muscles.
