Hi ladies, I am hoping someone can offer me a suggestion on this , or point me in the right direction.
I have been helping a mother of a 33 week preemie, who is now 2 1/2 months old. Mother has been expressing with a Medela PIS since day one and has no complaints about amount of milk produced.
The baby, however, seems to throw most her milk back up after trying to breastfeed.
Baby tolerated EBM in a bottle fine with minimal or no spitting up.
I suggested holding the baby a bit more upright at the breast as she does with a bottle, and mother saw no difference. Mother is anxious to quit pumping and EBF but is concerned as to why the baby would spit up more after nursing as opposed to the bottle. I also suggested an LC in a nearby city but mother is reluctant to travel.
Any suggestions welcome,
Mirine
