In the early 1990s when Felicity Savage was on the ILCA board, she took up
this question with the leading British dictionary...OED, I think it was.
They told her that dictionaries follow usage, so if we wanted breastfeeding
spelled as one word, we needed to spell it that way and get others to do it
too. I have seen a lot of movement toward our preferred spelling over the
last three decades.

WABA uses the spelling "breastmilk" and I kinda like that too, although I
think my preferred term is "human milk."
