I have been alerted that an infant feeding survey is being sent out by
email, via a Canadian parenting magazine's website. It appears that Nestle
is sponsoring the survey, as at the end you are asked about various Nestle
food products, and whether you'd like to participate in further Nestle
surveys.

There is a prize for doing the survey - the deadline is May 14.  I imagine
the link won't work after May 14th.

The survey is very detailed and long - it would take over 1/2 hour or more
to answer properly. You can't read the survey without actually answering the
questions.  I just clicked through and answered randomly in order to review
it quickly.

IF all the people who took the survey, answered it properly and thoughfully,
Nestle would get very good market information.

The survey questions are very good, I think.  It would be very useful for
persons involved in breastfeeding promotion to think about the questions
they ask, as it points out possibilities why people are attracted to using
formula.  Although we know that many of these are not true (convenience,
etc) , these are the perceptions we need to overcome.  And note how many of
these items DO NOT relate to health advantages - they are lifestyle
considerations.  That is why one-to-one and group support is so important -
to show that breastfeeding is easy and normal, not a self-sacrificing
activity to gain health benefits that can't be guaranteed.

I tried to copy and paste, or print the pages, in order to save a copy, but
I was unsuccessful.  If anyone figures out how to save a copy, please let me
know.

Note:  if you say that you are neither an expectant or new mother, the
survey ends.  However, it appears that you can log onto the survey as many
times as you want, in case you want to study the questions more.
Even if you say you will be completely breastfeeding, you are asked about
using formula.
The survey is not perfect, in that it doesn't seem to be checking for people
lying on the survey - for example, if you first say that you have an infant
of one month or less, but later say that you introduced cereal at 6 months,
it doesn't catch that mistake.  I suppose they may be throwing that survey
out of the analysis later, I suppose.
