The information regarding iron mentioned by Samuel Fomon would suggest that
he still researches and relies heavily on ABM, and not breastfeeding. I
attended a course on infant nutrition taught by Dr. Fomon at the University of Iowa
years ago.(Maybe 20 years ago, but I was so young at the time I don't
remember). At that time, out of five days of lectures, I recall there was little to
no information on breastfeeding. Perhaps he has added information about
breastfeeding to his knowledge base. I have an early edition of his textbook
devoted to infant nutrition and, like the course, practically all of the information
was based on ABM as "the standard."
