Winnie -
I have found that many moms have some initial tenderness that I think is
normal in the population of moms that I serve.
I describe it to moms with the following analogy:
"Pain is abnormal. You might have some minor discomfort in the first few
days, but not pain. The kind of discomfort that would be normal would be
the same type of discomfort you might feel from buying a brand new pair of
sneakers and wearing them all day the first day. Because they have not
molded to your feet yet they might feel uncomfortable. This would not be
the same and the pain you might feel when you purchase a pair of dress shoes
that perfectly match that fancy dress but just do not fit and blister your
feet. Dress-Shoe pain is the type that is not normal. And, if you do get
sore nipples, while they are healing they might feel sore still. Again,
like wearing those fancy-dress shoes all day and going home and putting on
your comfy slippers. Your feet still are sore but there is no new damage."
