Can someone tell me how much of the immune properties of human milk remain after pasteurisation? I have a friend with a daughter adopted a few months ago who is coming down with every illness under the sun (she is almost never well). Tests etc have not found anything wrong, I think her immune system is depleted because of stress. I was going to suggest to her mum that she consider seeing if she can get some donor human milk informally (no milk banks in Sydney!) but wondered if she pasteurised it how this would impact the ability of the milk to assist in this situation?
I'd appreciated informed advise promptly....we're going to China tomorrow!
