Jean and other learned colleagues,
I couldn't agree more.
>>>Other than the fact that phone directions can be, and have been very
helpful in many situations, I think these two examples illustrate why perhaps a
mother with implants might be better served by our dealing with liability
issues by giving her the opportunity to learn about self-administered RPS so she
can make an informed choice. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I was not demeaning the effect of RPS, simply cautioning others. It seemed
the "asker of the question" was new to the field and was inquiring about
treatments.
I have limited experience using RPS in person. In terms of phone
counseling - not everyone "hears what you say" the same way. Your comments are well
taken and I don't "disagree" with you except to point out that not everyone had
the privledge of seeing and hearing you in Scottsdale. (must buy the tape.)
As LCs use this technique more, adjustments in technique and new insights
will occur. Haven't we all refined our way of using a SNS, using a nipple
shield, or other treatments as we have gained clinical experience?
I don't dispute that RPS is wonderful and that it works, it takes time and
patience and mom must be willing to try it. I stand by the comment about
implants. We have to be careful and more and more women have them. There have been
several occasions that the patient didn't even share that information
because she "didn't think it was that important." I am very pleased that you have
condensed all of these comments and look forward to other dialogue.
Sincerely,
Mary Kay Smith
