I have found the answer to this dilemna... at least for my community. I
have the grup meet at a local coffee house. Everyone is responsible for
their own snacks and beverages. I just show up and answer questions. I have
a VERY well attended "tea" and it doesn't cost me anything but time. Since
it is free, I find it easy to get listings about it in the local papers.

I am the facilitator of a New Mothers Support Group ( moms and babies up to
12 months) . There is no fee, But I regularly solicit the community for
donations to pay for incidentals ( copying, snacks, PR).
I can't get the new mothers to bring or donate drinks, I can only imagine
if I was to ask for payment!
