The mom of a three week old asked me if it was safe to go to the beauty
shop and have her hair dyed. Does anyone have any information to share?

This mom is pumping and NGT feeding her baby because he was diagnosed
with silent aspiration and reflux. Does anyone have experience with
this? The docs are telling her they will do another swallow test in 6-8
weeks. It was abnormal but all other tests were normal. He was a
vacuum extraction delivery at 37.5 weeks because he needed surgery for a
testicular tortion. He was not intubated for the procedure. She had
successfully nursed him several times before surgery. When they tried
to give a bottle of formula 5 hours post-op, they noticed he was in
trouble and he had a full work-up. Gaining well on Mom's breastmilk,
but if more than 70 cc's is given by NGT, he gets a startled look,
swallows several times and looks uncomfortable. So he is off the
hospital q4h/85 cc schedule and getting 70 cc's on demand. Mom is
coping well, but anxious to get him to her breast.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
