Anyone familiar with this organization and its thoughts on breastfeeding and
raw milk? I read some of it last night and was so upset that I took forever
to fall asleep. I know some of you are obsessed as I am about accurate
breastfeeding info so could you help me process this please. While I agree
with what they say about the formula industry and other things, the
breastfeeding info really bothered me.
Here's the site http://www.westonaprice.org/children/breastfeed.html
I would love to hear any thoughts both publicly and privately. They seem not
to trust LLL at all, so I didn't even know if it would be worth it to write
them. I was left with the impression that breastfeeding is good for 6 months
to a year, but if you can't bf, just use a raw milk formula and the baby
will thrive. Also, because of current dietary practices, breastmilk isn't
that great anyway, so if you aren't doing their diet, your baby will be
without necessary nutrients and will not thrive. The studies they site are
old and who knows how accurate (not very I suspect). It just made me
question the validity of the entire site. And to totally bag on LLL because
they don't support raw milk in the WAB, come on! People already think LLL is
crazy enough without taking a strong stance on Raw milk (whether that is
what they should do or not).
Thoughts?
Micky
