Dear Friends:
       The recommendation for exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months means that
nothing else is given except human milk. This means no  water.
       There were reasons to give water to formula-feeding newborns many
years ago, but all those reasons are outdated now.
       I would suggest that you, June, ask the midwives for the evidence to
support their practice.
