Dear Friends:
Such a terrible dilemma for Winnie; however, eating and paying one's
bills do come first.
I can understand what you are doing, as I did some of that myself when I
was teaching childbirth education in institutions. I mean stifling my words
and walking on eggshells. However, your heart will always beat with good
intentions and there are plenty of mothers there at your workplace who will be helped
by your presence.
I hope that you have a friend somewhere that you can ventilate with about
your feelings. Sometimes I get so discouraged, especially after working in
this arena of childbirth and breastfeeding for nearly 30 years. The world has
become so crazy. What brought me into this work was the wonderful woman energy
which was acknowledged and respected in the days before medicine went corporate
in the USA, which would be the early '90s.
It makes me sad that you would consider leaving LACTNET though; however,
you know what is best for you now and I respect you for your choice, and honor
your decision.
Best of luck.
warmly,
Nikki Lee
