The description of the chronically cracked nipples that only responded to
treatment once barrier moisture methods were assumed cause me to wonder if a
dermatologist was ever consulted. This sounds like eczema. Some women have
skin that rapidly breaks down with the wet-dry, wet-dry stress of nursing
and pumping. Once the skin cracks, there is the possiblity of all sorts of
infections.
