But until we all accept that several years of breastfeeding is every
child's birthright, we'll have people continuing to think that they've been
a great success when they nurse for six weeks, and have done something truly
amazing when they nurse for a year.
I so agree, Kathy, and just the other day as I stood at the deli counter with
my 20 yr old daughter, a mom I'd had in breastfeeding class said hello,
pointed to her two children and so proudly stated, breastfed them both, a year and
a half. I smiled, said good for you and restrained myself from pointing to my
daughter and saying, 7 years.
