Nancy,
This may be a unique response to Postpartum Depression - Anxiety.  The
pumping is causing the hormone elevation, but she may benefit from an SSRI or
anti-anxiety medication.  And, she may be grieving the loss of her pregnancy, her
"ideal" birth, loss of control, loss of her mothering role, etc., etc. as you
know.  Lots of losses she's maybe unaware that she's experiencing, but blaming
the pumping for instead of talking to someone about the real issues going on
here.  Has anyone been able to develop a repoire with her to discuss some of
these things with her?  And if so, I'm curious as to what are her responses.
Something's buried that she herself may be unaware of, and the stress of having a
premie has caused her to exhibit these symptoms.  It may be something that
seems totally unrelated, such as post-traumatic syndrome from a prior
loss/stress event that's exhibiting physiological symptoms at this time of stress.
